Research Fellowships
The CCI has a established the Walter-Hitzig Programme for awarding fellowships to facilitate specific research projects in the field of immunodeficiency. The aim of this programme is to provide a nurturing environment for physicians to carry out research away from clinical obligations in order to create outstanding clinical scientists in the field of immunodeficiency and infectious diseases. The programme also aims to increase the compatibility of a combined scientific and clinical training and increase the attractiveness of a scientific career to physicians. Up to three fellowships are available at any one time.
The trainee is affiliated to one of the CCI research units and assigned a mentor who supervises and helps the trainee map out his career plan. Two possible types of research fellowships are available, a short Type I fellowship to carry out a short research project (3-6 months) or attend summer school and a longer Type II for conducting a research project of up to two years. Type I fellowships can be applied for at any time as long as funding is available. The next deadline for type II fellowships is December 2, 2011 for a fellowship of up to 18 months. More information is available under the individual fellowship sections.
CCI Guest Scientist Programme
Networking is an extremely valuable feature of good science. The CCI has set up a guest scientist programme to facilitate visiting scientists to CCI and for CCI scientists to visit external institutions. Please contact Dr. A.M. Perner at anne-marie.perner(at)uniklinik-freiburg.de for more details.
