We are an interdisciplinary team of immunologists and experts in infectious diseases who are specialists in the investigation, treatment and research of the immune system and infectious diseases. We treat many patients with different inborn and acquired immune defects or patients with an infectious disease, in whom an immunodeficiency plays a role in the cause or development of the disease. In addition to precise and careful diagnosis and therapy, we offer expert counseling services for these illnesses. We are primarily involved in the care of adult patients, but our close ties with the paediatric department ensure a smooth transfer of young people to our department when they reach 18 years of age. Close cooperation with colleagues from nearby clinics and general practitioners who are also involved in the care of these patients is very important to us. Adult medical care usually takes place in the outpatients clinic of the medical hospital or in the day clinic for infusion treatment. If necessary, patients can be admitted to the infectious diseases ward, von Frerichs or to the immunology and rheumatology ward, Ehrlich or can be attended on another ward as part of our consultation services.
