ECOTROS Report
ECOTROS Survey 2008
The ECOTROS project group replicated the survey amongst ECOTROS members on the network's benefit. The 2008 questionnaire was answered by 93 persons (approx. 30%). The results are summarized as follows:
- Information and contact aims have been reached
- Information provided on the website is beneficial
- Communication via the mailing lists was beneficial
- The workshops were beneficial for 20% of the persons who answered the questionnaire (60% didn’t answer this question, so did not attend a workshop).
- Statements given: 14 were satisfied with ECOTROS as it is at the moment, 11 gave recommendations and 11 were statements about improvement of research collaboration and about the institutional organization of ECOTROS

ECOTROS Survey 2006
The ECOTROS project group did a survey amongst ECOTROS members on the network's benefit and future potential. 35 of 260 members have sent back the questionnaire. The summarising conclusions are:
Benefit
- Rate of return is low. Thus results may not be generalised to all ECOTROS members. 2 of 35 respondents are very experienced in research, 7 are experienced, the others have limited experience or interest in research. So we need to bring also experienced and very experienced researchers into contact via ECOTROS.
- 33 of the 35 participants gained important information about persons and European activities in OTR or OS. But only 9 people got in contact with persons interested in cooperation and 4 participants have started European cooperation in OTR or OS via ECOTROS. The ECOTROS project group concludes out of these results, that we should keep the information section broad and up to date. In addition, we should improve our facilitation of coming in contact and cooperation. As first concrete step, we provide the possibility to set up sub-mailing list on special topics.
Future potential
- 23 of 35 persons are willing to send once or twice a year information on their projects and activities.
- 15 people would work for ECOTROS around 1 h per week, if travel and other costs were paid, 19 persons would work online for ECOTROS, also around 1 h per week. This willingness to contribute motivates the ECOTROS project group. We invite you to look to the list of possible tasks and to send us your ideas of how you would like to contribute to ECOTROS.
