Farewell

Dear participants of the 5th EWOG Congress on MDS and bone marrow failure
in Rotterdam, 22-24 April 2009,

The international symposium welcomed over 180 participants during this congress. In the nice venue of the World Trade Center in the Center of Rotterdam, an impressive program with a high scientific level was presented on the novel developments regarding these rare diseases in childhood.

Apart from international experts in the field like Rebecca Chan, Blanche Alter, Norbert Gatterman, Neil Young, Charlotte Niemeyer, Franco Locatelli, Hans Joenje, Christian Flotho, Monica Fuhrer as well as the organizers Michel Zwaan and Marry van den Heuvel-Eibrink, also parents were giving the opportunity to share their expert vision in the fields of the diseases Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) , Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML) and bone marrow failures.

Participants presented outstanding clinical and scientific work by selected oral presentations and poster presentation. The venue provided the possibility to have personal intercollegial conversations in a good atmosphere. The organisers would like to thank all participants for all their efforts which contributed to the success of this meeting.
