Structural and functional network analyses in neurodegenerative disorders

To be clinically useful, imaging has to provide information about the individual patient concerning diagnosis and prognosis. In addition to these well established functions, imaging may also help to choose between treatment options.
In cooperation with Irina Mader from the department of Neuroradiology and Olaf Ronneberger from the department of Pattern Recognition we employ pattern recognition methods with the ability to detect a disease specific pattern of brain changes. (see: Automated Diagnosing) with a focus on dementia and other neurodegenerative disorders. These techniques have been found useful for diagnostic and prognostic purposes. To learn how disease effects the individual, we study structural and functional networks (see: Network Analyses).
