Gynaecology |
The University Medical Center Freiburg, within the scope of the service package uniklinik plus, offers a broad spectrum of medically expedient examinations and treatments in addition to those covered by the health insurance plans.
Bladder Weakness (Incontinence)
To prevent and to evaluate the risk of incontinence (aconuresis) we examine and measure the function of the urethra and the pelvic floor musculature. After a thorough consultation, you will be given an individual prevention or treatment plan.

Diagnostic Ultrasound
The gynaecological ultrasonic screening with duplex sonography allows for the examination of the uterus and the mucosa of the uterus, the ovaries and the oviduct for benign or malignant changes.

Laser Therapy
Outpatient laser therapy enables the removal malignant changes or other lesions at the mouth of the uterus without loss of significant tissue or development of scars.

Hormone Therapy
Endocrinologists and reproduction specialists at the University Medical Center Freiburg evaluate and treat abnormal menstrual cycles, menstrual bleeding disorders, menopause-related problems or infertility. All necessary hormone level determinations are conducted by the Endocrine Laboratory of the Gynaecology Clinic.

Infections
Some sexually transmitted infections may lead to serious long term health consequences. The infectious diseases programme of the Gynaecology Clinic offers consultation and treatment for sexually transmitted infections.
Asymptomatic genital Chlamydial infection represents the most common cause of infertility in women. The Chlamydial infection causes inflammation of the oviduct and in up to 20 % of all affected cases, obstruction of the oviduct occurs. Young men and women under the age of 25 from all social cases are most commonly infected. It is, however, rare in the adolescent population.
We also treat viral diseases of the genital organs and determine infections such as HIV and Hepatitis B and C. One focal point of our clinic is the early detection and therapy for infections with the human papilloma virus (HPV).

Contraception
We provide information regarding the advantages and disadvantages of the different contraception methods. We will, upon request, place an intrauterine device (pessary).

Second Opinion for the Diagnosis of Cancer
After a diagnosis of cancer, there are often many questions which a general practitioner may not be able to answer fully. Your questions about the diagnostics and therapies of a gynaecological cancer will be answered by a team of internationally acclaimed cancer specialists.

Infertility
Couples with the unfulfilled desire to have a child can receive consultation and treatment in our Fertility (Kinderwunsch) Outpatient Gynaecology Clinic. We will explain the causes of infertility in men and women and will assist you with making a decision on potential therapies to facilitate conception.

Costs
The fees are in accordance with the standard rates of the University Medical Center Freiburg, which are based on the German scale of fees for doctors (GOÄ). Prior to any treatment, there will be a consultation with the doctor after which, the patient will make an agreement with the Medical Center regarding the scope of the treatment.
