Division of Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology
The Division of Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology provides the university hospital with routine services in hygiene and infection control. Research relating to all aspects of hygiene, hospital epidemiology and infection control constitutes a major part of the division's work. The division also focuses on the development of rapid typing methods for clarification of the epidemiology of nosocomial pathogens. Hospital hygiene procedures are investigated to ascertain whether they may replaced by processes that are cost-effective, less work intensive and environmentally compatible, without compromising standards of hygiene. In addition the division provides training in all areas relevant to hospital infection control.
Main fields of activity:
- Services to the university hospital in the area of hospital infection control and epidemiology
- Analysis and control of hospital-acquired infections
- Research into the fundamentals and infection control and epidemiology of transmissible diseases
- Consultancy services/advice on antibiotic usage
