Patient Care

The Department of Neurology treats patients with Diseases of the Brain, the Spinal Cord, the Peripheral Nerves and the Muscles. We use neurophysiology (e.g. EEG, evoked Potentials, Electromyography, Electronystagmography, Tremoranalysis) to assess functional systems, assessment of the cerebrospinal fluid for inflammatory diseases, MRI for structural lesions, PET for metabolism and transmitters. New treatment options are constantly emerging (e.g. new drugs, pumps or stimulation techniques in basal ganglia diseases, thrombolysis and new rehabilitation options in stroke, new drugs in epilepsy or interventions in neuroimmunological diseases and neurointensive care). The Department takes care of all kinds of neurological diseases and has specialists in various areas.

Doctors should fax the request for outpatient service between 8:00 and 16:00 to 0761/270-5338. The service is mainly reserved for neurologists and psychiatrists.
