Priv.-Doz. Dr. Christian Stappert earned a DDS and his doctorate from the Johannes-Gutenberg-University Mainz, Germany.

After working as an Assistant Professor and research associate at the Department of Prosthodontics (Prof. Dr. Dr. H. Spiekermann) at the University RWTH Aachen, he was employed as Assistant Professor of the Department of Prosthodontics (Prof. Dr. J.R. Strub), Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg, in 1997. He was appointed Associate Professor in 2001.

Following a ‘Visiting Research Professorship’ at the Department of Biomaterials & Biomimetics at the New York University College of Dentistry, New York, USA, he received the ‘venia legendi’ (Priv.-Doz.) of dentistry, division Prosthodontics, of the Albert-Ludwigs University Freiburg in 2008.

He is currently ‘Director of Aesthetics and Periodontal-Prosthodontics’ at the Department of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry (Prof. Dr. D. Tarnow), and Principal Investigator at the Department of Biomaterials & Biomimetics (Prof. Dr. V. Thompson) at the New York University College of Dentistry.

Priv.-Doz. Dr. Stappert graduated ‘Master of Science - Biomaterials and Biomimetics’ by the Graduate School of Arts and Science, New York University and is a board-certified prosthodontist (German Society of Prosthodontics and Dental Materials). He was appointed ‘Certified Lecturer of Implantology’ and ‘Specialist of Esthetic Dentistry’.

His main research focus is on all-ceramic materials and restorations. He is the author of several peer reviewed publications and editorial board member and reviewer of various dental journals.

Priv.-Doz. Dr. Stappert is married and has a son.
