The focus of our department is in three main areas:
A central tenet is a focus on excellence in patient care. In the outpatient department, patients may choose to be treated by department faculty or students who perform prosthodontic treatment.
As an alternative, they may choose to be treated in the intramural private practice of Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. J. R. Strub. There, they receive dental treatment from Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. J. R. Strub and his team of senior faculty members.
Our second focused effort is teaching prosthodontic dentistry at the undergraduate as well as post graduate level. We are teaching the most up to date methods in prosthetic dentistry and related areas such as implant prosthodontics and pre-prosthetic periodontology.
For dentists who have completed their undergraduate training, we offer a 3-year postgraduate program. The postgraduate program in prosthodontics has three major objectives:

to teach the scientific basis of specialty practice;

to insure a high level of competence in the diagnosis of oral diseases, treatment planning both comprehensive prosthodontic and implant therapy, and

to develop future leaders not only in the specialty of prosthodontics, but also in the larger dental arena, with due emphasis on research and clinical aspects.
The Department of Prosthodontics, School of Dentistry, has been a strategic partner in reconstructive dentistry for public research institutions and national and international companies in the dental and health industries since 1988
