In vitro-testing of prosthetic restorations and materials

The department of prosthodontics conducts extensive investigator-initiated materials research as well as industry-sponsored testing. This includes basic testing of material properties as well as the performance testing of complete restorations. All tests are performed to meet DIN, EN and ISO norms:

  • Static testing
    (flexural strength tests, fracture toughness tests, fracture resistence)

  • Chemical solubility

  • Abrasion testing

  • Thermocycling

  • Thermomechanical loading
    (computer-controlled chewing simulation)

  • Precision fit tests
