The Department of Prosthodontics postgraduate programme is a 3-year programme, which is designed to provide advanced training in prosthodontics, preprosthetic periodontics, and implant dentistry. Upon successful completion of the programme, the candidate is awarded a Certificate of Completion of Postgraduate Education in Prosthodontics (Teilnahmebestätigung) from the University of Freiburg School of Dentistry. In addition, the programme promotes the certification process for the German Board of Prosthodontics according to the guidelines of the German Association of Prosthodontics and Dental Materials (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Prothetische Zahnmedizin und Biomaterialien e.V.; DGPro).
The goal of the curriculum is to provide postgraduate students with a scientifically-based rationale for all diagnostic, treatment-planning and patientcare decisions. Approximately 50% of the curriculum time is allocated to patient care with the remaining time devoted to required lectures, diagnosis/treatment planning seminars and prosthodontic literature reviews. We further encourage our postgraduate students to participate in our departmental research programmes.
