Preclinical Prosthodontics (Parts I-III)

Course Director: Prof. R. J. Kohal

The main objective is to teach dental students the application of prosthodontic principles and techniques in a preclinical education model using dental mannequins. Participants of “Preclinical Prosthodontics Part II” must have successfully completed “Preclinical Prosthodontics Part I”, and participants of “Preclinical Prosthodontics Part III” must have successfully completed “Preclinical Prosthodontics Part II”.

Specific Course Objectives/Outcomes:

Part I: Handling of dental materials (i.e. wax, resin, impression materials, dental stone), tooth shapes, preparation guidelines, full-coverage crowns.

Part II: Fixed partial dentures and complete dentures.

Part III: Removable partial dentures.

Evaluation Criteria/ Methods:

Knowledge of subject will be evaluated by written examinations. Students must achieve an average on written examinations of 65% or higher to pass this portion of the course. Quality of performance will be evaluated by practical examinations. Students must take and achieve clinically-acceptable performance on all practical exams.
