Dr. Simone Nübling

Research Interests:

  • maintenance of smooth and high quality laboratory processes, as this is fundamental for high quality research
  • enabling high-quality collection of biospecimens and associated clinical data to be used for cardiovascular research

Brief CV:

Simone started her career as a chemical laboratory assistant at the State Institute for Chemical and Veterinary Analysis (CVUA) in Freiburg with focus on detection and identification of genetically modified organisms (GMO) in food. Later she studied Food Science and Engineering at the University of Hohenheim followed by her PhD in the department of Food Microbiology (2012-2016), where she obtained major experience in working with microorganisms of safety levels S2 and S3**. After her PhD she was employed as Scientific Project Manager and Deputy Laboratory Manager at Eurofins GeneScan Technologies GmbH, Freiburg (2016-2019). There she focused on the development of nucleic acid-based methods for the detection of bacterial pathogens (e.g. Enterohemorrhagic E. coli) in food and feed. Since 2019, Simone is working as lab manager at the IEKM. She is the head of the technical service, responsible for quality management and administrative activities around the CVBB, ethics and animal experiment applications.
