Dr. rer. nat. Ramona Emig

Post-doctoral researcher (Mechanobiology, Bioinstrumentation)

Research Interests:

  • Mechano-electric coupling between cardiac myocytes and non-myocytes, especially in scar tissue
  • Influences of dynamic changes in extracellular matrix stiffness on cardiac cells as well as on their coupling
  • Mechanisms of mechanosensing in cardiac cells

Brief CV:

Ramona Emig received her Bachelor's degree in biological science at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern before moving to Freiburg for her Master's studies. Therein, she focused on translational aspects of molecular biology/biochemistry and worked on light-regulated activation of biochemical signal transduction pathways at distinct subcellular compartments. After having finished her Master's studies, she joined the Cell Biophysics group at the IEKM in April 2017. She received her PhD in March 2022.
