Exosome and Tumor Biology

Extracellular nanovesicles (exosomes) transport proteins and nucleic acids between cells. We examine the role of exosomes in tumor progression; specifically, the function of membrane proteins tetraspanins in exosome release and in interaction with the recipient cells during metastasis. Furthermore, we are working on application of exosomes in tumor diagnosis and prognosis.

Additionally, we assess the interaction between nanoparticles and cells and the potential impact of exosomes in the mediation of the nanoparticle transfer and cell response. To assess these questions, we apply 3D models and cell co-cultures mimicking in the vivo environment.
