The Department of Radiology, Medical Physics, University Medical Center Freiburg is looking to fill the position of a

PhD student or PostDoc in vendor-independent MR pulse sequence development (m/f/d)

The Department of Radiology, Medical Physics, is inviting applicants to support our activities in the area of Magnetic Resonance Technology. Over the recent years our department has developed a number of novel MR imaging protocols and methods. The present project funded by the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) will focus on the development of platform- and vendor-independent MRI protocols and pulse sequences in cooperation with the University of Michigan and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) / Harvard University in Boston.

The successful applicant will join a stimulating working environment of over 50 scientists at the MR Physics Group in Freiburg, led by Prof. Dr. Maxim Zaitsev. Our research is carried out in tight collaboration with leading industry partners providing access to innovative technological developments for human in vivo imaging.
Qualifications
The successful candidate is expected to have completed a relevant degree (M. Eng./ M. Sc. or equivalent or Ph.D.). Knowledge of basic physics involved in MR imaging and good programming skills (Matlab/Python/C++) are required. Experience with MR imaging or spectroscopy would be of advantage. The present position allows for the unique combination of theoretical and practical aspects with the perspective of a fast and broad adoption of the developed methodology in the scientific community. The working language in our international team is English.
Employment Conditions
Salary and benefits will be in accordance with the regulations for German federal employees (TV-L E13; 65 % for a PhD Student or 100 % for a Postdoctoral Researcher). Duration of the contract will be three years with options for a further extension. In case of a PhD Student application the aim will be obtaining a PhD degree in engineering or physics within the three years.
