The Department of Radiology, Medical Physics, University Medical Center Freiburg has an opening for a

PhD Student or PostDoctoral Researcher in intelligent MR image reconstruction (m/f/d)

The Department of Radiology, Medical Physics, is inviting applicants to support our activities in the area of Magnetic Resonance Technology. Over the recent years our department has developed a number of novel MR imaging technologies and methods. The present project funded by the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) will focus on the development and application of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence algorithms to MR image reconstruction in cooperation with the University of Michigan and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) / Harvard University in Boston.

The successful applicant will join a stimulating working environment of over 50 scientists at the MR Physics Group in Freiburg, led by Prof. Dr. Maxim Zaitsev. The project will be carried out in tight collaboration with leading industry partners providing access to innovative technological developments for human in vivo imaging.
Qualifications
The successful candidate is required to have completed a relevant degree (M. Eng./ M. Sc. or equivalent or Ph.D. for postdoctoral researchers). Knowledge about basic physics involved in MR imaging and good programming skills (Matlab/Python) are required. This position allows for the unique combination of theoretical and practical aspects with the perspective of a fast and broad adoption of the developments in the scientific community and medical research. The working language in our international team is English.
Employment Conditions
Salary and benefits will be in accordance with the regulations for German federal employees (TV-L E13; 65 % for a PhD Student or 100 % for a Postdoctoral Researcher). Duration of the contract will be three years with options for a further extension. In case of a PhD Student application the aim will be obtaining a PhD degree in engineering or physics within the three years.
