Medical Technology (MED)

Dual study program

Are you enthusiastic about electronics and medical technology? The dual study program in medical technology opens up the world of modern technologies to you.

Medical devices are indispensable in a hospital. This course is suitable for people who are enthusiastic about technology: it combines engineering sciences with medical progress. As a student on the medical technology course, you will use your knowledge to help improve the health of sick people. Well-known products from this discipline include pacemakers, ECGs, prostheses and dialysis machines. The medical sector is booming and offers great opportunities.

The theoretical content is taught in cooperation with the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) Mannheim.
The course is divided into a three-month alternation between theory and practice. During the theoretical phases you will study at the DHBW Mannheim, while during the practical phases you will gain valuable experience at our location.

Electrical engineering

The Medical Engineering course lasts three years (6 semesters) and leads to a Bachelor of Engineering degree. The theoretical part of the course at the DHBW Mannheim and the practical phase in the company alternate every 3 months. The course begins with a theoretical block.

Several scientific disciplines come together in medical engineering: mathematics, technology, medicine and natural sciences. Even though the focus is always on practical application, the first semesters place greater emphasis on teaching the theoretical foundations.

The practical training takes place in the Technology division - Medical Technology department. You will gain extensive insights into our medical technology equipment such as imaging systems, laboratory technology and monitoring. You will also work on various projects and learn about project management in practice. You will have the opportunity to contribute independently in a variety of ways. Further information is also available on the website of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University Mannheim.
