Dual study program
Are you interested in complex documentation and management processes? Would you like to support the medical staff by taking on patient-related activities?
With the dual study program to become a Physician Assistant, you will become part of a multi-professional team. The theoretical content will be taught at the Cooperative State University in Karlsruhe, while the practical training will take place in various clinics and institutes at the University Hospital. This will alternate in a 3-month rhythm.
The theoretical content is taught in cooperation with the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Karlsruhe.
The course is divided into a three-month alternation between theory and practice. During the theoretical phases, you will study at the DHBW Karlsruhe, while during the practical phases you will gain valuable experience at our location.
The theoretical content of the course is taught at the DHBW in Karlsruhe. This includes in-depth study of basic scientific and medical subjects as well as other relevant courses, e.g. physics, molecular biology, anatomy, pharmacology and radiation medicine.
The theoretical training in the first two years of study is broadly diversified. In the 3rd year of study, specializations are offered through subject-specific courses.
The practical content is taught in various departments at the hospital. These include the Clinic for Internal Medicine I, Clinic for Internal Medicine II, Clinic for Neurosurgery, Clinic for Cardiovascular Surgery, Clinic for Dermatology and Venereology as well as the Center for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, Center for Emergency and Rescue Medicine and Center for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery. This gives you a comprehensive insight into possible areas of work after your studies.

Prerequisites
- University entrance qualification according to §58 LHG (e.g. Abitur or Fachholschulreife and Delta examination or professional qualification and aptitude test)
and - Proof of completed 3-year medical training (e.g. healthcare and nursing, OTA, MFA, emergency paramedic)
