Assist - treat - document

In the treatment room, dental assistants prepare instruments and materials and assist with examinations and treatments. On the dentist's instructions, they prepare fillings and impression materials for dental impressions and take x-rays. They inform patients about the possibilities of caries and periodontal prophylaxis and instruct them on oral hygiene.

After treatment, they clean the work surfaces and sterilize the dental instruments. They document treatment procedures and record the services provided for billing with health insurance companies and laboratories. They plan treatment appointments and deal with correspondence.
