Medical assistant

Treat - care - document
They look after patients, for whom they are usually the first point of contact in the clinic. Medical assistants weigh and measure patients, apply bandages, prepare syringes and draw blood for laboratory tests. They assist doctors during examinations and treatments as well as during (minor) procedures.
They operate and maintain medical instruments and equipment and carry out laboratory work. Prevention also plays an important role: they inform patients about preventative and follow-up care options and motivate them to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Many tasks relating to the administration of patient data are also part of the job. Medical assistants process various forms, create treatment records, document all data and process invoices with various cost bearers (e.g. statutory and private health insurance companies, employers' liability insurance associations). Medical assistants also plan and coordinate examination appointments and ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible.
