Medical strategy and networking
The Medical Strategy and Networking staff unit reports to the Chief Medical Director and Chairman of the Executive Board. It supports the hospital's Executive Board in the development and implementation of qualitative and quantitative medical corporate goals, promotes organizational development and manages overarching transformation processes.
The staff unit is committed to the fundamental pillars of university medicine: teaching and research. As part of its scientific work, the unit examines and analyzes current health policy and care-relevant topics with regard to their health economic implications, combined with the aim of an empirically based medical strategic development of the University Hospital and the health region. The results of the studies are regularly published and presented in other formats, e.g. specialist conferences or political committees. In addition, the employees of the staff unit are actively involved in teaching and supervising students. These formats include internships as well as doctoral, Bachelor's and Master's theses.
The establishment of a hospital-wide project portfolio management and multi-project management structures for strategic topics such as outpatient care and the digitalization of medical processes are managed by the staff unit. The staff unit coordinates the involvement of internal and external medical service providers in the strategy development process. In consultation with the departments involved, the staff unit drafts agreements for medical cooperation with domestic service providers, associations, companies and other institutions.
In this way, it shapes the role of the University Medical Center Freiburg in (supra-)regional healthcare provision through intelligent, needs-based strategic networking, taking current and future developments into account.
