Accessibility of the website
When designing the pages of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg, special emphasis was placed on clearly structured information, a high-contrast presentation of the texts as well as the navigation and control elements. The semantics of the HTML are based on a strict separation of content, structure and design. Headings are chosen so that they are also meaningful for the structure.

- Adjusting font sizes
The font size can be adjusted to the user's personal requirements using the key combinations Ctrl+ (enlarge) and Ctrl- (reduce). To return to the original size, press CTRL 0. The correct display of the website has been tested on various browsers and older browser versions.

- Optimization for mobile devices
The website is "responsive" and is automatically adapted for display on mobile devices such as tablet PCs and smartphones. All content of the normal website is also visible on these devices. In addition, we offer smartphone users the option of directly selecting and calling displayed telephone numbers and automatically transferring selected e-mail addresses to the address field of a new e-mail window.

- Usability by screen readers
The Medical Center - University of Freiburg website has been programmed so that screen readers can recognize the page structure of most subpages. Links and forms are marked as such. Screen readers are special output devices that enable blind people in particular to navigate through a website. With the help of the screen reader, content can be read aloud to the user via a loudspeaker.

- Status of compatibility with the requirements
The websites are not yet fully compatible with the Directives of the European Parliament and of the Council on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies (2016/2102). The incompatibilities and content that is not yet accessible are listed below.

• PDF documents have not yet been converted to an accessible format.
• Subtitles or transcription are currently not available for some embedded videos.
• Graphics or images contained in the pages have not yet been fully supplemented with text descriptions.
• In some cases, navigation is not possible without a mouse.
