Compatibility of family and career
For the children of our employees, we have 125 full-day childcare places available in seven cooperation facilities. The offer is aimed at children from the age of 12 weeks up to their 3rd birthday.
The offer is aimed at employees of the University Hospital who work at least 50% of their usual weekly working hours.
Opening hours: generally 7.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.
Childcare costs: costs vary from facility to facility and depend on opening hours and closing days.
The Junikäfer-Kita "Sonnenstrahlen" is open all year round and has no closing days.
The Sem;kolon Kita "Farbenfroh" has reduced vacation closing times (17 days).
In principle, our 50 places are not limited to any particular facility of the Junikäferverbund. The choice of facility/group is always made between the parents and the provider.

The Wolkengarten daycare center is a company daycare center in cooperation with the University Hospital, the Faculty of Medicine, the Albert Ludwig University and the Studierendenwerk. The University Hospital has three groups.
The six-group facility is run by Jugendhilfswerk Freiburg.
Opening hours: generally 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The St. Josef Catholic kindergarten in the West Arcades offers a total of 70 childcare places for children aged between twelve weeks and six years. The University Hospital has three groups for children up to their 3rd birthday.
Opening hours: GT: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm or VÖ: 7:30 am to 2:30 pm

The University Daycare Center Murmelgarten is a daycare center of the Family Service of the Albert-Ludwig-University Freiburg. The University Medical Center has 2 places available.

1-3 years: all-day care from 07.30 to 15.00

The Bimmelbahn daycare center is a daycare center of the DRK KV Freiburg. The University Medical Center has 3 places in the U3 area and 3 places in the Ü3 area.
Children can only be admitted from the age of 1.
Opening hours: 7:15 to 16:30
Childcare costs: Parental contributions are staggered depending on the group (infant or mixed age) and the number of children, including meals.

Note: Please note that if you apply for a childcare place for your child/children, you agree to the forwarding of the required data (if accepted) to the respective childcare facility.
The offer is aimed at employees of the University Hospital with a workload of at least 50% of the usual weekly working hours.
The application generally refers to all cooperation facilities of the University Hospital. You are welcome to specify a preferred facility, exclude a facility or specify a preferred order.
Childcare begins with a settling-in period of around four weeks, during which the child attends the facility together with a parent on an hourly basis. The desired start of childcare includes the settling-in period and should therefore be taken into account when planning the return.
The number of places is limited. We strongly recommend that you apply for childcare places at other facilities and at your local authority at the same time.
Allocation of places
Childcare places are allocated approximately six months before the desired start of childcare, but at the earliest after the birth of the child. Places are allocated on the basis of a points system using the following criteria
- Both parents employed at the clinic
- Sibling already at the facility
- Single parent
- Persons with private care responsibilities or similar.
Despite a large number of childcare places, it is not always possible for us to offer all families a childcare place in the desired facility at the desired time. We therefore ask for your understanding.
The children's group at the Klinikum e.V. looks after ten children between the ages of one and three. The childcare hours are from 07:00 to 17:15. You will find the premises in the staff building 6, Fehrenbachallee 6.
