MFA+ qualification program in the central OR areas
Standing at the operating table, being part of a specialized team and providing support during surgical procedures - the internal MFA+ qualification program at the University Medical Center Freiburg makes it possible. Certified medical and dental assistants (MFA/ZFA) (m/f/d) are given the opportunity to take on tasks in the central OR. Over a period of up to one and a half years, participants get to know the procedures in the OR in detail and prepare for their new area of responsibility.
The qualification program at a glance
The aim of the qualification program is to enable medical and dental assistants (m/f/d) to carry out instrumentation activities independently during defined small to medium-sized surgical procedures in addition to their jumper activities. Other tasks include documentation, preparation and follow-up of the operating theatres and compliance with hygiene standards.
The qualification program is aimed at trained medical assistants (MFA) (m/f/d) and dental assistants (ZFA) (m/f/d).

To participate in the MFA+ qualification program, you must have completed vocational training as an MFA (m/f/d) or ZFA (m/f/d). In addition, an induction phase of at least one year in patient-related and non-patient-related activities in the OR functional service is required. If suitable, this is followed by the six-month qualification program. The qualification therefore lasts a total of 1.5 years.
