Advanced Medicine and InnovationThe University Heart Center stands for cutting-edge university medicine. The care we provide to our patients at our two facilities in Bad Krozingen and Freiburg meets the latest medical standards. At the same time, we are also engaged in research: Cardiologists, surgeons, and vascular specialists work side by side with doctors and scientists from other disciplines to advance our knowledge on the causes and mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases. These findings then serve as a basis for the development of new methods for diagnosing and treating these diseases. We also conduct research into the influences of environment and lifestyle on the development of these illnesses and look for possibilities to prevent them. This knowledge benefits our patients as well as young medical researchers.
Care and Compassion
Although we uphold high scientific and methodological standards as a research institution, our patients and their needs are the main focus of our attention. Around 22,000 inpatients receive treatment from an interdisciplinary team at our center each year. With around 1500 doctors, nurses, and other employees, the University Heart Center Freiburg • Bad Krozingen is among the largest and most renowned heart centers in Germany. We treat around 22,000 inpatients and 41,000 outpatients each year.
