Nursing care on the intermediate care wards (IMC)
Our link between intensive and standard careOur intermediate care wards are special wards. We treat and care for patients whose severity of illness exceeds the capabilities of a normal care ward but who do not require treatment in an intensive care unit. This allows us to offer our patients an additional level of treatment.
Our nursing focus includes the vital monitoring of patients who do not require ventilation, which is why we are characterized by state-of-the-art medical technology and highly qualified teams.

Our Intermediate Care Unit cares for kidney transplant and kidney-pancreas transplant patients before and after transplants. We also care for 12 perioperative patients in general and visceral surgery, trauma surgery, orthopaedics and urology with a 1:3 care ratio. Our patients require continuous monitoring of their vital signs and do not require ventilation or dialysis.
A key factor after a major operation is adequate pain therapy. As pain is to be expected after an operation, but does not simply have to be accepted, pain therapy is a high priority. Thanks to close monitoring, individual pain therapy can be achieved using differentiated medication and methods with minimal side effects.

Our stroke unit is a special ward for all forms of stroke, consisting of a multidisciplinary, specially trained team of doctors, nurses, therapists, psychologists and social workers. We are equipped with 14 state-of-the-art monitoring beds. We treat more than 1,500 patients here every year.
