* born 1962 in Calw; German painter and installation artist, studied from 1981 - 1988 at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe, master student of Peter Dreher, lives and works in Freiburg im Breisgau
Bernhard Härtter attended the Freiburg branch of the Staatliche Kunstakademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe from 19981 to 1989 as a master student of Peter Dreher and developed his concrete-minimalist style early on "in questioning the identity of painting, its means and forms of expression" (Härtter). In 1988, he was awarded the "Förderpreis der Wirtschaft am Oberrhein" and won the "Kunst an der Straße" competition organized by the Federal Ministry of Transport. In 1993 he received a scholarship from the Hessian Cultural Foundation. Between 1996 and 1999, he taught at the University of Art and Design in Pforzheim. In 2000, Härtter received a scholarship from the state of Baden-Württemberg for the Cité des Arts in Paris. His exhibitions include those at Portikus in Frankfurt am Main in 1991, at the Museum für Neue Kunst in Freiburg in 1997 and at the Patricia Sweetow Gallery in San Francisco in 2005. Bernhard Härtter lives and works in Freiburg i. Br.
