Berthold Hörbelt

Berthold Hörbelt studied at the Kunsthochschule Kassel from 1984 to 1989, where he met Wolfgang Winter. In 1992, the two began working together, which initially resulted in the "Same Same" group of works. From 1993 to 1998, Hörbelt taught "Plastic Design" at the Münster University of Applied Sciences. Having become internationally renowned, Hörbelt and Winter accepted a joint DAAD lectureship at the University of Fine Arts Hanoi in Vietnam in 1999 and 2002, interrupted in 2000/2001 by a joint deputy professorship at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig ("Light and Space"). Hörbelt and Winter have enjoyed success at home and abroad with numerous solo exhibitions (including the installation "Rotating Shelders" in Utracht in 2009, the exhibition "Pilgrim's Picnic" in Santiago de Compostela in 2009 and "At eye level" in Paris in 2008) and group exhibitions, including their participation in the 48th Venice Biennale in 1999. Berthold Hörbelt lives and works in Frankfurt and Havixbeck.

Together with Wolfgang Winter

They have been working together since 1992 and their sculptures can still be seen today in many places in Europe, the USA, Vietnam, Japan and Brazil, impressing with their conceptual and aesthetic quality. In August 2004, Winter/Hörbelt were awarded the most prestigious prize for visual artists in Frankfurt, the "1822 Art Prize" of the Frankfurter Sparkasse.
