* c. 1910; † (killed in action) ~1944 near Cherbourg; German sculptor

Hellmuth Hopp first completed an apprenticeship with the Freiburg sculptor Ludwig Kubanek. He then studied under Christoph Voll at the Landeskunstschule in Karlsruhe. Due to his first exhibition successes in Berlin, Hopp received an invitation to Paris, where he became a private student of the French sculptor Charles Despiau. After his return, Hopp initially led the renovation of a baroque church in Saarbrücken. Back in Freiburg from 1932, he was a guest of the Badische Secession at the "Exhibition of the City of Freiburg" in both 1934 and 1935. In 1937, he was awarded 3rd prize in a competition for the "Leistungsschau der Deutschen Gemeinden".
