Artists and artistsElisabeth Wagner
* Born 1954 in Gundelsheim (Baden-Württemberg); German sculptor
Elisabeth Wagner studied from 1974 to 1978 at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe under Wilhelm Loth and others. From 1978 to 1982 she continued her studies with Franz Erhard Walther at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg and explored conceptual art and minimal art, including that of Donald Judd. The artist worked for a long time with non-traditional materials, especially cardboard. Her spatial installations moved between enigmatic object and abstract action. It was not until the end of the 1990s that her works became figurative again. Since 1981, the artist, who became Professor of Sculpture at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Kiel in 1996, has exhibited her works in Germany, Europe and overseas. Her most recent work in public space, "Lighter than Air - Roberta's Flying Horse", was erected at Ulm University Hospital in 2007.
