Manuel Frattini
November 2018Manuel Frattini 's exhibition will open at 11 a.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at the University Heart Center Freiburg ∙ Bad Krozingen (Südring 15, Bad Krozingen, attic floor). Paintings on canvas and wood, drawings and wooden objects can be seen under the title "present time". Dietrich Roeschmann will give an introduction.
Born in Offenburg, Manuel Frattini studied at the Freie Hochschule für Grafik-Design und Bildende Kunst in Freiburg and at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe. Scholarships have taken him to England, France, Japan, South Korea and Canada. Since 1996, his works have been regularly shown in solo and group exhibitions. Frattini lives and works in Freiburg.
Under the title "present time", the exhibition focuses on the moment in which the idea is transformed into an action during the creation of a work of art - in other words, the moment in which painting or drawing, sawing or varnishing takes place. At the same time, the finished artworks enter into a relationship with each other through their placement in the exhibition space. "Present time" in this context means that the works are not to be read as a chronological sequence, but that their reciprocal relationships make the presence of the artworks tangible for the viewer.
With their abstract, geometric formal language, the painterly works look like simple signs or signsposts and point to the world of ideas, languages and sign systems that surround us in everyday life. The drawings, on the other hand, are observations of plants and refer to nature and the visible world. The wooden objects stand between picture and sculpture, as they protrude from the wall into the room and are thus also perceived spatially.
The exhibition can be viewed from Monday, November 5, 2018 to Friday, December 7, 2018 on weekdays from 9 am to 6 pm at the University Heart Center, Bad Krozingen site (attic floor). Admission is free.

Frattini's works are to be seen in the context of the surrounding architecture. Seen in this light, the effect of his pictorial objects results from the hanging, which is once again superbly successful.
The attic floor in the Heart Center is transformed into an artistic spatial structure that has a stimulating effect and can certainly lead to meditative contemplation.
The objects (acrylic on wood or canvas), most of which were created in 2008, invite the viewer to listen to stories - such as the following: The gaunt conductor tunes his coloristic orchestra for the presentation of a ballet. The coreography results from the color dress, the size and the contrast. Can musical sounds also be heard?
You have to walk along the star shapes, then they begin to come to life, moving with changing perspectives and proudly displaying their colorful dress. When passing Frattini's objects, one could imagine pausing. Then the figures begin to dance ...
