Andrea Humpert-Faßlrinner (painting) and Ellen Korth (ceramic objects)

March 6 to April 10, 2005

After introductory words by Mr. Sahner, the xylophone-piano duet played pieces by Edvard Grieg, among others.

Ms. Kathrin Wegener-Welte gave an introduction to the work of the two artists.

The graphic and sometimes painterly texture of the ceramic objects stands in an artistic field of tension with the emotional and sometimes impressionistic brushstrokes of the paintings.

Korth's ceramic objects have the most intense aesthetic effect when grouped together - as if they were created specifically for the combination. One might wonder whether these are objects of applied art or sculptures that refer to applied art.

Andrea Humpert-Faßlrinner reveals her full artistic potential in the figure. Her magnificent composition and sublime use of color conjure up movement, passion and quiet restraint on the canvas.

Her painting style could be described as impressionistic and tachist. She places it at the service of composition and the sovereign division of space. But above all she is characterized by the balancing act from the concrete figure to the abstract gesture.
