Norbert Kiby

October 17 to December 2, 2011: Norbert Kiby, Painting

View into the hallway

The attic floor has been transformed. You walk through lucid clouds of color that flow from the paintings. At times, lightning flashes through these fleeting formations. One cannot escape the forms, colors and figures and should generously, albeit hesitantly at first, dispense with the picture titles, as the pictorial actions communicate themselves in all cheerfulness and selflessness. Viewing pictures that are fun.

What drives these two powerful men out into nature? It doesn't matter! Here they are happily moving forward and working - wherever and whatever. The breathless brushstrokes - because speed is everything - lend the figures dynamism and confidence. What might they be thinking? What is their goal? Look and listen! They tell us.

Welcome Spring, acrylic on nettle, 150x130 cm (detail), 2005

Here it is no longer possible without onomatopoeia. The speech bubble assures the viewer of the artist's narrative ambitions. Every picture contains this credo.
