Christian F. Kintz
2009The gallery owner and art historian Nikolaus Bischoff from Lahr explained in a few concise words how Kintz's "pictures" work.
He took the visitors by the hand and showed them the individual phases of image creation. Are these pictures, or are they not rather color phenomena that use the picture support as a stage on which to unfold their effect? According to Bischoff, you can see the layers of paint on the edges of the picture and thus also gauge the effect of the picture.
Color shapes the space, and the space has an effect on the color. The visitor can engage in a fascinating interplay.
The artist paints the color on square tubes or strips. Flaps of paint are created that sink downwards. Color reliefs coat the surface. The painting has left the picture and is on its way to becoming pure color.
The juxtaposition of superimposed flaps of paint and the paint piled up on the canvas makes the development of the color forms clear. In fact, it is no longer about the picture, but about the effect of the color, which requires the picture carrier to come into its own.
