Harald Kröner

July 14 to August 23, 2013: Harald Kröner, works on paper

Kröner's works cannot be reduced to a common denominator. Or are they? This uncertain balancing act creates fascination. Objects, installations or works on paper cannot be assigned to a genre or an art form. This increases the fascination. Movement unfolds in all his works - even if they are (paradoxically) static. So there is a common denominator: movement in light and in motionlessness.

The picture carriers and also the small-scale set pieces contradict the "eye of the camera". They stand on their own in the field of tension of certain proportions that are assigned to them in the interplay of differently designed pieces of paper. The collage becomes "real" when you stand in front of it. Then the formats of the pictorial motifs become apparent. You think you have a kind of magic box in front of you, as you are tempted to rearrange the parts of the picture in order to form your own pattern. The motifs of many of the works, whether collages or drawings, are placed on notepads or lined paper, as if they only wanted to stay here temporarily. This invites the viewer to redraw the coordinates between the pictorial symbols.
