Health promotion

Company health management (BGM)

The goals of occupational health management (OHM) at the University Medical Center Freiburg are to maintain, promote and strengthen employee health and to create healthy working conditions.

We therefore provide employees with a wide range of health promotion services.

The University Medical Center Freiburg offers its employees a cooperation with the company fitness provider HANSEFIT.

Hansefit:
For a monthly price of € 44.01, employees of the hospital can use all of Hansefit's partners (Best Membership). Hansefit's corporate fitness offer is aimed exclusively at employees of the clinic.

Central physiotherapy/ UNIFIT

UNIFIT is an in-house "fitness studio" for physiotherapy-oriented training therapy and group courses. It offers employees of the clinic and external customers the opportunity to strengthen their muscles, correct postural and fitness weaknesses and release tension and blockages. All of this is done under the guidance and supervision of our professionally trained team of therapists. The UNIFIT offer emphasizes the quality of application and customer care.

Movement concept

The movement concept is primarily an interprofessional concept at the UKF between physiotherapy and nursing, in which the movement economy of employees is optimized ergonomically and physiologically through the targeted promotion of patients' ability to move. In order to sustainably improve the movement behavior of employees, the Central Physiotherapy Department (ZPT) offers the opportunity to implement, adapt to the needs, deepen and improve the techniques learned in a practical accompaniment. At the same time, cooperation, communication and mutual appreciation are encouraged.

The movement concept is also suitable for all other professional groups at the hospital. Strategies for healthy working at the workplace are taught as part of practical support, training and activities under physiotherapeutic guidance.

Lunch break with exercise

On certain days, specific movements are offered in some departments during the lunch break for employees of the university hospital to loosen up, laugh, relax and recharge their batteries. This is led by employees from our central physiotherapy department.

Health promotion projects

Health promotion projects are carried out in various intervention areas. The aim is to promote personal, social and organizational health potential. As part of the moderated health circles, employees can actively participate with their expert knowledge and bring about change. External moderation is provided throughout the entire project.

Company outings

Once a year, a company outing is organized for the employees of the Freiburg University Medical Center, with various excursion destinations offered to suit the different interests of our employees.

The following are examples of core statutory tasks and fields of action which, in addition to traditional occupational health and safety, also lead to modern workplace prevention with the linking and further development of occupational health management:

  • Occupational health care
  • Occupational safety instructions
  • Inspection and assessment of workplaces and working conditions
  • Employees with socio-medical support needs or with disabilities
  • Life-phase-oriented healthy workplaces
  • Vaccinations
  • Standards for specific hazards
  • Systematic risk assessments
  • Effectiveness testing of occupational health and safety measures.

Special offers and ongoing projects

  • Initial training in accordance with the Infection Protection Act (IfSG):
    The target group is food preparation staff with the aim of consumer protection.
  • Flu vaccination:
    UKF employees have the opportunity to receive an annual flu vaccination free of charge.

Company integration management (BEM)

Company integration management (Betriebliches Eingliederungsmanagement, BEM) applies to all employees who are unfit for work for more than six weeks without interruption or repeatedly within a year and who have an employment, training or other employment relationship with the University Medical Center Freiburg. The BEM applies to all employees, regardless of whether they have a severe disability or not.

The BEM includes all activities, measures and services that are suitable for restoring and permanently securing the ability to work and employability in a specific individual case. Employees are offered a confidential discussion with the company medical service or another member of the integration team, which they can agree to or decline. If necessary, specific measures will be discussed in a further meeting of the integration team and their feasibility examined.

The University Medical Center Freiburg offers its employees various free counseling services to maintain and strengthen both the health and mental well-being of employees in the workplace.

To protect the health of patients and employees, smoking at the University Hospital is only permitted in the designated smoking pavilions. Tobacco cessation programs are available to all employees.
