Gabriela Morschett
2019: In the beginning was the lineGabriela Morschett's exhibition will open at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the University Heart Center Freiburg ∙ Bad Krozingen (Südring 15, Bad Krozingen, attic floor). Entitled "In the beginning was the line", the exhibition features drawings, paintings and sculptures by the Müllheim-based artist.
The main element in Gabriela Morschett's works is the line, which, once put on paper, seeks its way in endless excursions. Infinite variations of lines and signs reveal an atmosphere of movement and motion, of changeability and mutability. The exploration of pictorial space by means of the line is at the center of Morschett's work. The line appears as an infinite continuum, as a bundle of lines or as a single line. It can intensify or almost completely dissolve. Gabriela Morschett's sculptures and objects made of black annealed iron wire follow the same pattern as the drawings - they continue the play of lines in three-dimensional space.
Gabriela Morschett studied at the Freie Hochschule für Grafik-Design und Bildende Kunst in Freiburg from 1987 to 1991. In 2004, she received the honorary prize at the 4th International Biennale for Drawing in Pilsen (Czech Republic) and participated in the 15th International Triennial for Original Graphics in Grenchen (Switzerland). The artist has already exhibited in museums and galleries in the Czech Republic, Belgium, Italy, Hungary, Switzerland and Germany, among others. She was also represented at Art Karlsruhe in 2018. Most of her works are in public collections.
The exhibition can be viewed from Monday, March 18, 2019 to Friday, May 3, 2019 on weekdays from 9 am to 6 pm at the University Heart Center, Bad Krozingen site (attic floor).

The view into the attic corridor seems adventurous. Sculptural creatures look at their sisters, on graphics on the wall. It is difficult to make connections. The hanging structure at the end of the corridor ... Is it alive, is it floating?

The filigree cones and spheres quickly reveal themselves to be artifacts, compressed ornaments that have grown out of an invisible core.

The core movement, the soul of the wire body, is revealed in the graphic opposite.
Coherence II, iron wire H 2 m, 2009
The free-floating ornamental body plays with the light and defines the space.

The middle display case in the entrance area shows flaring ornamental fibers that detach themselves from a compact wire cushion.
