The stark contrast between Thongbhoubesra's softly colored landscapes and Rotens' strictly organized striped paintings initially irritated visitors, but they soon became fascinated by the idiosyncratic magic of these different approaches to landscape painting.

Thongbhoubesra figures the landscapes of her second home, Thailand. Sky and earth merge in a tropical haze. The consistent reduction to color forms that suggest nearby hills, distant mountains and hazy plains convey the atmosphere of this exotic backdrop.

Leonie von Roten's striped pictures list street scenes, clouds or hills. The photographed scenes are stretched using Photoshop and come together to form a compact montage. The works, some of which are large-format, can probably be classified as "photo paintings". They are not digital prints but exposed photographic paper.

Landscapes are composed of different color form elements. Layers are created and - supported by color contrasts - suggest proximity and distance.

Despite their different techniques, the works of the two artists are essentially related. The photographically processed sequences can be read in a similar way to the painterly combination of color fields. The landscape image, its dynamics and atmosphere are created in the synopsis.
