Intensive Care Trainee Program at the University Medical Center Freiburg

"The program is very flexible and can be individually tailored,"
says Tudor Solomon, a nurse at the Freiburg University Medical Center. He came to Germany from the Republic of Moldova several years ago and completed his training at another German hospital. After moving to the University Medical Center Freiburg, Tudor started the intensive care trainee program straight away. "Within 15 months, I will be assigned to three different intensive care units. This gives me a good overview of what it means to work in intensive care," reports Tudor.
He praises the flexibility of the program: "I was able to choose the wards myself, and it was also possible to join at any time". The program is not only interesting for career starters; experienced nurses also gain an insight into intensive care as trainees. Tudor is already on his second intensive care ward. At the end of the trainee program, he is spoilt for choice: "'You're coming back to us', they said to me on the first ward," Tudor reports with a laugh, "but I'll see the program through and then decide on a ward.
