Franziska Broer to move to Freiburg in May 2025 / The renowned science manager is currently Managing Director of the Helmholtz Association

At its meeting on Friday, December 6, 2024, the Supervisory Board of the University Medical Center Freiburg appointed science manager Franziska Broer (46) as Commercial Director. She is currently Managing Director of the Helmholtz Association. As a member of the Executive Board, she is largely responsible for strategic management. The move to Freiburg is planned for May 1, 2025. She succeeds Anja Simon, whose contract ends on March 30, 2025.

Dr. Carsten Dose , Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the University Medical Center Freiburg, says: "With Franziska Broer, we are gaining a nationally and internationally highly respected science manager with many years of leadership experience, particularly in the field of health research. The Supervisory Board is convinced that she will provide important impetus to further strengthen the performance of the University Medical Center Freiburg in a phase of major challenges."

With this early personnel decision, the Supervisory Board is ensuring an almost seamless transition in the commercial management of the University Medical Center Freiburg.

"The University Medical Center Freiburg is an ideal place to shape the high-performance medicine of tomorrow. For me, this also means going back to my roots in the administration of medical beacons. I am looking forward to working in a unique team to implement a vision for medical care, research and teaching."

She previously acquired her expertise in the fields of healthcare management and science administration in various management positions within the Helmholtz Association. Among other things, she worked as Administrative Director at the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research in Braunschweig and as Head of Controlling at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin. Franziska Broer studied economics and law at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau. She also completed the Consumer Healthcare course at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin.

At the same meeting, the Supervisory Board appointed Markus Ehret, Head of Finance and Controlling at the University Medical Center Freiburg, as Deputy Commercial Director of the University Medical Center.
