Experts from the University Medical Center Freiburg will provide information on current treatment options on Thursday, April 3

Parkinson's disease is one of the most common progressive diseases of the nervous system in which nerve cells gradually die off. A cure is not yet possible, but modern therapies can alleviate the symptoms and noticeably improve the daily lives of those affected. At the Parkinson's Patient Day on Thursday, April 3, 2025, patients and their families will find out what new treatment approaches are available. Experts from the University Medical Center Freiburg will present current treatment options, including minimally invasive procedures such as new medication pumps that make everyday life much easier for those affected. The event will take place from 3 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the Neurocenter of the University Medical Center Freiburg, Breisacher Straße 64. Participation is free of charge, registration is required.

"The diagnosis of Parkinson's is a major challenge for those affected and their relatives. However, there are now many ways to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life," says Prof. Dr. Michel Rijntjes, senior physician at the Department of Neurology and Neurophysiology at the Freiburg University Medical Center. "Minimally invasive procedures in particular open up new possibilities, which we will be providing information about at the Patient Day." In addition to short presentations, there will be plenty of time for questions and personal discussions.

The Patient Day is organized by the Department of Neurology and Neurophysiology at the University Medical Center Freiburg in collaboration with the Department of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery at the Department of Neurosurgery and the Parkinson's Clinic Ortenau.
