More exercise with a new app function

A new coaching function of the "tala-med Cardio" app developed at the University Medical Center Freiburg offers motivating feedback / Study participants wanted

Regular exercise can significantly reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. The tala-med Cardio app developed at the University Medical Center Freiburg helps users to integrate physical activity into their everyday lives on a permanent basis. A new coaching function has now been added to the digital offering: it provides everyday, individualized feedback and thus motivates users to exercise more. The effectiveness of the new function is being investigated as part of a scientific study at the University Medical Center Freiburg. Registration for participation is possible until Thursday, May 8, 2025.

"The app helps to implement health-promoting behavior step by step - with everyday recommendations, clear videos and now also motivating feedback," says Prof. Dr. Andy Maun, Director of the Institute of General Medicine at the University Medical Center Freiburg and project manager of tala-med.

Scientific support

The test phase of the new coaching function is being monitored as part of a study conducted by the Section for Health Services Research and Rehabilitation Research (SEVERA) at the Institute of Medical Biometry and Statistics at the University Medical Center Freiburg under the direction of Prof. Dr. Manuela Glattacker.

Participants use the app with the new coaching function for four weeks. The start date can be chosen individually until Thursday, May 8, 2025. Registration takes place online. An email will then be sent with a personal access code and the link to download the app. After downloading the app, the participation code can be entered to start the four-week trial period. At the end of the test period, an invitation to take part in an online survey will be sent to record experiences with the new coaching function.

Anyone aged 18 or over who owns an Android smartphone and has sufficient knowledge of German can take part. Further information about participation can be found here.
