The Muslim Chaplaincy BW gUG (MSBW) began in 2008 and now cooperates with over 60 hospital facilities and prisons in Baden-Württemberg. In the area of hospital chaplaincy, the MSBW trains volunteer Muslim chaplains for the hospital and, in cooperation with the facilities, ensures the subsequent deployment of the trained chaplains in hospitals and psychiatric facilities with the aim of providing comprehensive Muslim hospital chaplaincy in Baden-Württemberg.

In addition, the MSBW accompanies and supports the chaplains through regular supervision and annual advanced training, among other things, and is also the contact for the facilities for all questions relating to chaplaincy. In addition to fulfilling the goal of providing pastoral care for our Muslim fellow citizens, the MSBW thus makes an active contribution towards equal participation in pastoral care for the large Muslim population and towards integration and the promotion of a more understanding coexistence in society.

The MSBW's Muslim hospital chaplaincy training course comprises a theoretical year of training lasting more than 200 hours and a practical year in a hospital. There is the possibility of further specialization in the areas of palliative and hospice chaplaincy as well as psychiatric chaplaincy.

The MSBW sees itself as an independent civil society actor that offers pastoral care to all Muslim fellow citizens, regardless of their religious affiliation, as well as to all people seeking pastoral care.
