Cannabinoids in the treatment of epilepsy
An international workshop will be held at the University Medical Center Freiburg on February 22, 2019
The use of cannabinoids in the treatment of epilepsy has become a controversial topic. After centuries of anecdotal reports suggesting an anti-epileptic effect, new clinical studies show that cannabinoids are also effective in severe forms of epilepsy that are difficult to treat. In a workshop at the University Medical Center Freiburg, renowned experts will discuss the current state of research, provide an overview of the knowledge of the endocannabinoid system and the effects of cannabinoids and give insights into clinical experiences. The use of cannabinoids in Germany, including legal and practical aspects, will also be discussed.
The workshop will take place on
February 22, 2019
from 9 am to 6.30 pm
in the conference room I+II
of the Neurocenter, Breisacher Straße 64,
at the University Medical Center Freiburg.
The workshop parts on pharmacological effects and clinical research will be held in English. Presentations on legal aspects, clinical experience reports and the panel discussion on the current status of treatment with cannabinoids in epileptology will be held in German. In addition to doctors and scientists from the Freiburg University Medical Center, other experts from Germany, the USA, Spain, Israel, Australia and Italy will also be taking part in the workshop.
