Mit Robert Koch Medaille in Gold ausgezeichnet

Teddy Bear Hospital honored with alumni award

At the opening of the academic year of the University of Freiburg at the end of October, the Teddy Bear Hospital of the Offene Fachschaft Medizin Freiburg e. Posterpreis für Dr. Felix Klingler

Dr. Felix Klingler, Arzt in der Klinik für Orthopädie und Unfallchirurgie des Universitätsklinikums Freiburg, wurde beim Deutschen Kongress für Orthopädie und Unfallchirurgie (DKOU 2025) Ende Oktober in Berlin mit dem ersten Posterpreis ausgezeichnet. Prämiert wurde seine Arbeit „Osteoporose-Screening am einfachen Ellenbogen-CT: Regionenspezifische Korrelation zwischen Hounsfield Units und DXA-Messung“, in der er untersucht hat, ob man anhand eines Ellenbogen-CTs Rückschlüsse auf eine mögliche Osteoporose ziehen kann – ohne extra eine Spezialmessung machen zu müssen.

Silver city seal for many years of commitment

Prof. Dr. Roland Laszig, former Medical Director of the Department of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg and Member of the Board of Directors of the association Deaf Children Learn to Hear, was honored with the Silver City Seal by Freiburg's Lord Mayor Martin Horn at the association's 30th anniversary event at the end of October. Freiburg Orbital Center receives EUGOGO certificate

The Freiburg Orbital Center is now one of five German centers with EUGOGO certification(European Group on Graves Orbitopathy). The award recognizes the specialized care of patients with endocrine orbitopathy, an autoimmune-mediated inflammation of the orbital tissue in the context of thyroid disease. At the Orbital Center, the Departments of Eye Center, Maxillofacial Surgery, Neurosurgery, Internal Medicine II, ENT Medicine, Nuclear Medicine and Neuroradiology at the Medical Center of Freiburg work closely together on an interdisciplinary basis.

Auszeichnung für Engagement in der Gynäkologie

Im Oktober wurde Prof. Dr. Ingolf Juhasz-Böss, Ärztlicher Direktor der Klinik für Frauenheilkunde des Universitätsklinikums Freiburg, mit der „Janos-Veres-Medaille“ der Ungarischen Gesellschaft für Gynäkologische Endoskopie geehrt. Die Verleihung fand im Rahmen der Jahrestagung der Fachgesellschaft in Ungarn statt. Gewürdigt wurde das langjährige Engagement für die Weiterentwicklung der minimal-invasiven gynäkologischen Chirurgie und die enge Kooperation mit der ungarischen Fachgesellschaft. Die Medaille erinnert an Dr. Janos Veres, Entwickler der weltweit eingesetzten Aspirationsnadel.

Double award for surgeons

Dr. med. Dr. rer. nat. Christopher Berlin, Senior Physician in the Department of General and Visceral Surgery at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg, was awarded the HTCR Research Prize (endowment 3,000 euros) and the Rudolf Nissen Prize of the German Society for General and Visceral Surgery (endowment 5,000 euros) in 2025. European Lecture Award for neurosurgeons
