When things get tight in men - from impotence to heart attacks
On Monday, April 15, 2019, interested parties will learn about typical male health problems / Experts from cardiology and urology will give four short presentations and answer questions
When potency decreases, this is a major psychological burden for many men. What many do not know: Erectile dysfunction can also indicate vasoconstriction and be a harbinger of a heart attack. On Monday, April 15, 2019 from 6.30 p.m. , at the event "Wenn's eng wird beim Mann - von Impotenz bis Herzinfarkt" ("When a man's erection gets tight - from impotence to heart attack") in the lecture hall of the University Women's Hospital, Hugstetter Straße 55 in Freiburg, interested parties can find out how to recognize these and other "male" health problems at an early stage and what can be done about them. In a total of four lectures, experts from the Department of Urology at the University Medical Center Freiburg and the Department of Cardiology and Angiology I at the University Heart Center Freiburg - Bad Krozingen will talk about heart valve stenosis, erectile dysfunction, heart attacks and benign prostate enlargement. Afterwards, the speakers will be available for personal discussions. The event is free of charge and registration is not necessary.
Going to the doctor is often particularly difficult for men
"Men have a life expectancy that is around four years shorter than women. This is also due to the fact that they go to the doctor later and less often," says Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Christoph Bode, Medical Director of the Clinic for Cardiology and Angiology I at the University Heart Center Freiburg - Bad Krozingen. Men also have a significantly higher risk of dying from a heart attack into old age. "We explain how men can recognize early warning signs and how to take timely countermeasures," says Prof. Bode.
Sexuality can often be maintained or restored
When it comes to complaints relating to sexuality, people often put off going to the doctor for a particularly long time. "With this event, we want to create a specific framework for discussing typical male health problems," says Prof. Dr. Christian Gratzke, Medical Director of the Department of Urology at the Freiburg University Medical Center. Among other things, the lectures will explain how men can still experience normal sexuality after treatment for benign prostate enlargement and what medical and mechanical options are available for erectile dysfunction.
