How we become who we are
On Tuesday, June 25, 2019, Prof. em. Dr. Joachim Bauer will speak at the Psychosomatic Tuesday Colloquium at the University Medical Center Freiburg about the development of the human self through resonance
How does the human self develop? This question will be discussed by Prof. Dr. Joachim Bauer, professor emeritus at the University Medical Center Freiburg and visiting professor at the International Psychoanalytic University (IPU) in Berlin, in his lecture "How we become who we are: The emergence of the human self through resonance" on
Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 6.30 p.m.
in the Auditorium Maximum of the University of Freiburg
(Kollegiengebäude II, Platz der Alten Synagoge).
Bauer will present central theses from his book of the same name, which was published in May and is based on the latest neuroscientific findings. He explains why, contrary to popular belief, the human self is not innate. Rather, it arises as a result of so-called resonances, i.e. shared experiences, joys and fears - and continues to develop throughout life. He places particular emphasis on the recently discovered neuronal self-systems, so-called self-networks, which develop in the first two years of life.
The colloquium lectures are open to all interested parties and will take place on Tuesdays from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Audimax during the 2019 summer semester.
All events are certified with continuing education points for doctors and psychologists.
Admission to the event is free. An overview of all dates and lecture titles can be found in the program.
