In January, the Blood Donation Center at the Freiburg University Medical Center offers donors breakfast on certain days

A little refreshment for blood donors: From Tuesday, January 7 to Friday, January 31, 2020, a mini breakfast with crispy pretzels and croissants as well as coffee variations and tea is available for all blood donors at the blood donation center of the University Medical Center Freiburg on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. while stocks last. On Fridays, there is also a buffet with fruity, hearty and vitamin-rich treats.

Around 80 percent of all people are dependent on blood products in the course of their lives. Many of them are cancer patients. The Freiburg University Medical Center's Blood Donation Center is calling for donations, especially after the holidays. "Illness and accidents don't take a break," explains Dr. Markus Umhau, Medical Director of the Blood Donation Center. "We hope that we can encourage many people to donate blood with our small culinary thank you in January."

Opening hours of the Blood Donation Center at Freiburg University Medical Center: 
Monday and Tuesday, 8 am to 3 pm
Wednesday and Thursday, 12 pm to 7 pm
Friday and Saturday, 8 am to 1 pm
The Blood Donation Center is closed on 31 December 2019 and 1 January 2020.

Anyone between the ages of 18 and 68 can donate (first-time donors up to the age of 60). Men can donate blood every 8 weeks, women every 12 weeks. An identity card and, if possible, a vaccination card must be brought along for every blood donation.
